GUA GUA cuban restaurant part
I
I went to Cuba to eat at the Gua Gua , but ended up in Plaza Itskatzu, no
visa, I didn't even have to catch a plane I went
to eat at the new
Restaurant LA GUAGUA with Silvia the night before
my birthday, and this
restaurant had been recommended by Ignacio Santos of Telenoticias.
Well, let me tell you that I had
a great time, good atmosphere, few tables, and
excellent service. I started the night with a MOJITO, an absolute
delight, rum, soda, sugar and mint, what a delicious drink, if you
like rum; this one will drive you wild, smooth,
tasty and refreshing. Remember I had told you that
I went to a restaurant, not a bar, a warm atmosphere,
comfortable, good Cuban music, two of the waiters are Cubans and the
owner Magda Bruna left Cuba in 1964 ,if you would
like to get to know her better she will appear in
our Readers section in this edition.
Besides, that
MOJITO drink put me in a good mood and also made me very hungry. The
menu was well done, made to look
like an old newspaper with advertisements out of
the old Cuba and has a nice variety of dishes, salads, children's
plates, meats, fish etc. and, of course the famous Cuban Sandwiches
Cubans.
That night, I started my meal with TOSTONES ESPECIALES, which included
tostones with shredded fried meat with melted Swiss and Mozzarella cheese
on top, a delicacy, another entree is MASITAS
DE PUERCO, this consists of marinated meat, very good (something like
chicharrón); FRITURAS DE MALANGA, a type of pancake made with tiquizque and
spices, a delicacy; also the CROQUETA DE CARNE, which leaves you craving
for more. I did not try any of the main dishes as I prefer to return, but I
did tryout the desserts of which tasted three; FLAN DE LECHE excellent,
PUDÍN DIPLOMÁTICO, super and the QUEQUE CAPUCHINO, very tasty.
Overall, Cuban food is
delicious, home cooking and refreshing.
LA GUAGUA is at the
